When it comes to buying blusher, you want to find the shade that's just right for your skin tone. Go too dark and the colour may not blend evenly across your face or, go too light and risk your blusher not being seen at all.

Largely, when it comes to blusher, there are two shades which we naturally gravitate towards. They are pink and peach. These two universal shades have been widely developed over the years, with lots of colours making their way into your make-up bag. But are we wearing it in the correct way? Are we choosing the right shade for our skin tone? And this begs the age old beauty question ' Pink or peach blush ' Which one is best? Finding the perfect shade for your skin is a daunting task but here at Fragrance Direct, we've stepped up to the challenge to make sure you find the one that's right for you.

Blush is designed to make the cheeks look like they have a natural 'flush'. Put too much on and you can end up looking like a clown! The first step you should take to make sure this doesn't happen is to have a good, hard look at your face. That's right ' Take a seat in front of your mirror.

Knowing your skin tone is essential to finding the shade that's going to work for you. Largely, we as beauty consumers, have two iconic shades to choose from. As previously mentioned, we're going to discuss the benefits of pink and peach blush and which one is going to work better for you.

Fair Skin

Embrace that beautiful, fair skin tone ladies. Yes, you may burn easily and you might be prone to a few freckles, but your lovely porcelain skin looks even nicer when you stick to lighter blush shades. Pink is the ideal shade for you as it gives you that natural flushed/English rose look. Powder or cream based pink shades will soon become your new best friend. We recommend the Glow and Ray Nuage Solo Blush. This blushes had a range of shades that are an ideal subtle touch of colour to your cheeks while still making your face look natural. When applying this shade with your blush brush, make sure to tap off any excess product from the brush before application so that you don't apply too much product to begin with.

Medium Skin

Medium skin is the category that we all mostly fall into with 80% of women making up the large number of medium skinned individuals. The perfect shade for this skin tone is a touch of peach which won't make you look clownish by being dark or too ashy by being light. We recommend the Daniel Sandler radiant Sheen Face powder to achieve that natural peachy glow that will make you look like you’ve just got back from holiday.. Our top tip for applying this blusher is to generously dab your blush brush into the product and take most of the blusher off on the back of your hand. Then you can safely apply the cheek colour without the risk of applying too much product. It's always better to apply less to begin with and build the colour up from there.

Dark Skin

Beautiful dark skin tones flourish with rose pink shades which will enhance the natural dark shades of the skin. Whether you want to apply your blush shade with your fingers or a brush, always keep the idea of a 'natural' look in mind. We recommend the Lily Lolo Pressed Blush, as this is a rosy shade of pink that will help to create a natural looking, every day shade that you can wear for any occasion. Try using an angled blush brush to apply this powder blush as this brush helps to really get the colour on the apple of the cheeks.
