Let’s face it: We don’t look after our makeup products as much as we should! In a perfect world our products would look fresh-from-the-shop condition forever, but in reality that’s not always the case. It can sometimes feel like the end of the world when you drop your cult-favourite cosmetic or lose the cap of your cream eyeshadow. But before you throw out the rejects, take a step back and assess the damage. Can this product be salvaged? If your products are dry, broken or running low, chances are you’re still able to pump new life into them with a few handy tips. We’ve rounded up our top hacks for reviving and refreshing your favourite beauty products, just read on to find out more...

Foundation

Blown your budget on a pricey foundation and now it’s starting to dry up? Why not extend the life of your favourite foundation by adding a drop of moisturiser into your solution and making a tinted moisturiser! If you’ve run out of your top product, chances are you haven’t, a large amount of solution can get stuck in the nooks of a glass bottle, so pour your favourite moisturising product inside of the bottle and give it a little shake. Voila! You’re now the owner of a fresh and fab new tinted moisturiser

Plastic Tubes

If you’ve come to the very end of your daily toothpaste, then chances are you’ve cut open the tube to ensure that you use up every last drop of the product! But have you ever thought about doing the same for your makeup/skincare products that come in a plastic tube? Well now’s your chance to try this hack out - before throwing away “empty” products, cut them open and scrape out what’s left. Be sure to use a large jar to store the remaining products, this way it will be easier to scoop product when you’re ready to use it.

Eyeshadow

You’ve got your favourite songs playing, a drink in one hand and your favourite eyeshadow palette in the other - but you’ve just noticed that your favourite bronze shade has completely cracked! Fear not, just try this quick hack and your eye makeup will be solved in no time - the key to this hack is rubbing alcohol, pour the rubbing alcohol into the product until the crumbles become a paste. Then, press the mixture back together with the back of your clean utensil. One the alcohol begins to evaporate, your must-have product will be good as new and ready for use!

Mascara

If your mascara is still in date then there’s still a chance to revive your slightly dried product. The recommended time to keep your mascara before tossing is three months so be sure to check that out! For this one, make sure you have your saline solution at the ready - squirt a few small drops of the solution into your products and they’ll be good as new! This tip can also be used on gel liners and cream shadows.

Pressed Powder

Your go-to powder begins to dry up and become unusable? It’s true, the oils from your skin harden the powder. To fix this issue, press packaging tape against the compact powder to remove the hardened seal on top, from there your pressed powder will look brand new! Don’t forget this top tip can be used on your blushes, bronzers and any other pressed powder products.
